GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team opened its 2024 season with a 3-0 (25-20. 25-20. 25-15) sweep of Gwynedd Mercy in non-conference play from Alumni Gymnasium on Friday evening.
Chana Rothschild set a new career-high with 11 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: Arcadia 25, Gwynedd Mercy 20
-The Knights led 5-4 following a Rothschild kill before a five-point run put the Griffins up 9-5.
-Arcadia face a 15-13 deficit, but four-straight points put the Knights ahead 17-15.
-Arcadia clung to a 19-18 lead, but a 6-3 run put the first set away on a
Kylie Strange kill.
Set 2: Arcadia 25, Gwynedd Mercy 20
-Both teams used extended runs early in the set before the Knights went on a 4-0 run leading 15-12 to take a 19-12 advantage.
-The Griffins battled back to cut the lead to 23-20 before two straight gave Arcadia a two sets to none lead.
Set 3: Arcadia 25, Gwynedd Mercy 15
-The Knights shot out of the gate to take a commanding 15-5 lead.
-Rothschild notched four of the final 10 points to give Arcadia the opening-night victory.
