DALLAS, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a MAC Freedom Conference match on the road Wednesday evening, falling to Misericordia University, 3-1. The Knights (12-11, 2-3 MAC Freedom) fell by set scores of 19-25, 22-25, 28-26, and 19-25.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set One: Arcadia 19 – Misericordia 25
• Arcadia capitalized on several Cougar errors early to take a 7-6 lead before Callie McGuire's ace extended it to 8-6.
• The Knights went on a 5-0 run behind two kills from Devon Young and an ace from Kylie Strange to push the lead to 13-7.
• Misericordia responded with a 4-0 run of its own before grabbing its first lead of the set at 19-17.
• Despite kills from Young and McGuire, the Cougars closed the frame on a 5-0 run to win 25-19.
Set Two: Arcadia 22 – Misericordia 25
• Chana Rothschild recorded an early kill before McGuire and Kelsi Warner added one kill and an ace, respectively, giving Arcadia a 6-4 advantage.
• Strange added a kill and followed with two aces as part of an 11-6 Knights lead.
• Misericordia tied the set at 16 before Young's back-to-back kills gave Arcadia a 22-20 edge.
• The Cougars, however, closed the set on a 5-0 run to take a 2-0 match lead with a 25-22 win.
Set Three: Arcadia 28 – Misericordia 26
• Young opened the third with two kills and a service ace to tie the set at 5-5 before Misericordia went on a 6-0 run to lead 11-5.
• Julia Archelle responded with two aces, and Young added three kills to bring the Knights back within striking distance.
• With Misericordia ahead 16-11, Rothschild and Nina Corazo combined for a block, while Sydney Steiner added an ace. Corazo's kill and ace narrowed the gap to 17-15.
• Down match point, the Knights rallied with three straight kills—one from Corazo and two from Archelle—to tie the set at 24-24.
• Archelle added another kill, followed by two from Young, and Strange sealed the set with an ace to extend the match.
Set Four: Arcadia 19 – Misericordia 25
• Rothschild's kill gave Arcadia a 5-4 lead before another from Archelle pushed the Knights back in front at 6-5.
• Misericordia answered with a 4-0 run, and the set continued to swing back and forth.
• Kills from Archelle, Young, and Bryana Saenz, along with an ace from Archelle, fueled a 4-0 Arcadia run.
• The Cougars countered with a 6-1 stretch to build a 15-11 lead.
• Arcadia continued to battle, but Misericordia reached 20 points first and closed out the match with the final five points, taking the fourth set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
