Knight on Knight Crime; Neumann Bests Arcadia at Home

The Arcadia University women's volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking five-set match to visiting Neumann University on Friday evening inside Alumni Gymnasium. Arcadia (10-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom) fell by set scores of 26-24, 12-25, 26-24, 23-25, and 15-12, as Neumann (6-9, 0-1) ended the Knights' three-match winning streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set One: Neumann 26 – Arcadia 24

  • Chana Rothschild opened the scoring with a kill, but Neumann quickly tied the set at 3-3.

  • Arcadia responded with a 4-0 run, sparked by a kill from Devon Young, blocks from Anna Keer and Kylie Strange, a kill from Keer, and an ace from Kelsi Warner.

  • The Knights extended their lead to 12-9 before Neumann rallied to tie the score at 12-12.

  • Kills from Rothschild, Nina Corazo, Young, and Ally Kulas helped Arcadia build a 21-19 advantage.

  • Neumann then surged ahead with a 5-0 run to take a 24-21 lead. Arcadia answered with three straight points to tie the set at 24, but two late miscues allowed Neumann to claim the opener, 26-24.

Set Two: Arcadia 25 – Neumann 12

  • Arcadia fell behind 3-1 early, but used a dominant 15-2 run to take control at 18-6. Young, Strange, Corazo, Keer, and Kulas each contributed kills during the stretch.

  • Neumann answered with a brief 5-0 spurt, but Arcadia finished strong with a 7-1 run. Corazo delivered the decisive kill to seal the set, 25-12, and even the match.

Set Three: Neumann 26 – Arcadia 24

  • The teams traded points early before Neumann pulled ahead 8-3, then extended the lead to 13-6.

  • Arcadia mounted a comeback with kills from Corazo and Rothschild, cutting the deficit to 16-15.

  • Rothschild's ace later gave Arcadia set point at 24-23, but Neumann closed with three straight points to win, 26-24, and take a 2-1 match lead.

Set Four: Arcadia 25 – Neumann 23

  • In another tightly contested set, Arcadia used a 4-0 run to move ahead 12-10, fueled by two Kulas kills and another from Rothschild.

  • After a Neumann service error, Arcadia led 17-13, but the visitors countered with a 5-0 run to retake the lead.

  • Arcadia regained control late, pulling ahead 23-20. Neumann tied the score again at 23, but a Rothschild kill and a Neumann setting error secured the 25-23 win, forcing a decisive fifth set.

Set Five: Neumann 15 – Arcadia 12

  • Neumann opened with a 3-0 run before Arcadia responded with four straight points, highlighted by back-to-back aces from Bryana Saenz.

  • Tied at 7-7, Neumann posted a 3-0 run to reach double digits first.

  • Arcadia battled back with a 5-0 run to take a 12-10 lead, but Neumann closed on a decisive 5-0 surge to win the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.
