YORK, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's swimming team returned to action on Friday for day one of the Spartan Splash, hosted by York College of Pennsylvania. After the opening day, the Knights sit in fourth place in the seven-team field with 140 points. Arcadia was led by the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Francis Andersen, Christopher Stanaway, Kajuan Haughton, and Matthew Drake, which secured a second-place finish.
Individually, Drake highlighted the day for the Knights with a fourth-place showing in the A Final of the 50-yard freestyle. He posted a prelim time of 21.75 before lowering it to 21.65 in the finals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Andersen, Stanaway, Haughton, and Drake claimed second place with a finals time of 1:27.65.
• The Knights' second relay team of Jordan Green, Johnny Pierce, Alex Pasquarello, and Tommy Tubinas placed ninth in the same event with a time of 1:35.71.
• In the 500-yard freestyle, Tubinas finished ninth in the B Final at 5:03.38, while Chris Carroll followed in 12th place at 5:04.80.
• In the 200-yard IM, Mikalai Yakhimchyk took 13th in the B Final with a time of 2:08.18, and AJ Benowitz placed 15th at 2:09.02.
• Drake earned a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle A Final with a time of 21.65, while Haughton also swam in the A Final, placing eighth at 22.66.
• Andersen competed in the 50-yard freestyle B Final, placing 16th with a swim of 23.19.
• The Knights closed the night with the 400-yard medley relay, as Stanaway, Carroll, Andersen, and Haughton combined for a fifth-place finish at 3:44.37.
