DALLAS, Pa. - A seven-run top of the eighth coupled with escaping a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the ninth pushed the Arcadia University baseball team to a 10-8 win in its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opener at No. 15 Misericordia on Friday afternoon.
FOR THE RECORD
-Arcadia improved to 8-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
-Misericordia fell to 9-5 and 0-1, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Misericordia jumped out to a 2-0 lead through one.
-The Knights took the lead in the top of the second on a
Thomas Strauch two-run homer and an RBI double from
Gabe Diaz.
-The Cougars responded with two runs in their half of the second, one in the fourth, and two in the fifth to retake the lead at 7-3.
-Strauch,
Ryan Radigan, Diaz,
Kevin Wheeler, and Noah Stennet each drove in runs in a seven-run eighth as Arcadia held a 10-7 lead.
-Misericordia cut into the deficit with a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth.
-After a quiet top of the ninth, the Cougars loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning but a foul pop-out to the catcher and a called strike three sent the Knights out of the dugout to celebrate.

Jeremy Coccia earned his first collegiate win with a scoreless inning of relief.

Mitchell Bramsway earned his third save of the year with a scoreless ninth.
