No. 3 Baseball Sweeps No. 2 Misericordia, Advances to MAC Freedom Finals

DALLAS, Pa. - The No. 3 seed Arcadia University baseball team swept its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) semifinal at No. 2 Misericordia, taking game one 11-10 in 10 innings before securing game two 7-5.

-Arcadia improved to 26-15.

-Misericordia ends its season at 26-16.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first when Cam Seymour lined a single to right center scoring Kevin Wheeler, followed by a two-run double to right off the bat of Joshua Agriesti that brought home Seymour and Thomas Strauch.

-Misericordia tied the score with three runs in its half of the first.

-Arcadia wasted no time retaking the lead in the top of the second on a two-run single from Max Oswald, an RBI double from Seymour, and a safety squeeze by Strauch.

-The Cougars tied the score with four runs in the fourth and one in the sixth.

-Misericordia jumped ahead with one run in the sixth and two in the eighth to take a three run lead into the ninth.

-In the top of the ninth, Joshua Agriesti reached with a one-out single to right center before exiting for pinch-runner Noah Stennett. After Ryan Radigan walked, and a pop-out, Derek Rivera moved everyone up two bases with a double to left-center that scored Stennett.

-One batter later, Wheeler tied the score with an infield single that brought home Radigan, with Rivera scoring on a throwing error.

-After Mitchell Bramsway, who earned the win, held the Cougars scoreless in their half of the ninth, the game was called for darkness, set to resume Saturday at 10 a.m.

-When play resumed, the first batter was Seymour, who reach on a hit by pitch.

-After a strikeout, Jake Hendershot pinch hit and launched a double to center that brought Seymour all the way around.

-Andrew Tyszka pitched a scoreless 10th for his first career save in the comeback win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Rivera and Wheeler brought home one run each in the top of the second to put the Knights on top.

-Misericordia cut the lead in half in its half of the frame.

-Agriesti added to the lead with an RBI double scoring Hendershot in the top of the sixth.

-The Cougars tied the score in their half of the sixth.

-Strauch gave Arcadia the lead back in the seventh with a two-run triple before an Agriesti single put the Knights up 6-3.

-Misericordia trimmed the lead to 6-4 in bottom of the seventh.

-Wheeler finished the scoring with a single to right-center in the eighth scoring Eric Shandler.

-Jack Dovidio pitched five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.

-Jadon Dormer earned the win in relief, allowing two runs on two hits in 1.2 innings.

-Bramsway earned the save with a scoreless ninth.

-The Knights advance to the MAC Freedom finals, where they await the winner of the other semifinal between No. 1 Stevens and No. 4 Lebanon Valley, with game two scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. Lebanon Valley captured game one Friday by a final of 8-4.
