Women's Volleyball Wins a Five Set Thriller in Tri-Match

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University's women's volleyball team defeated Moravian in non conference action 3-2 (25-19, 25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 15-13) and fell to Wentworth 0-3 (14-25, 13-25, 17-25) on Saturday in its tri-match.

ARCADIA 3, MORAVIAN 2

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1: ARCADIA 25, MORAVIAN 19

- Arcadia opened the scoring with a kill from Devon Young.

- Moravian responded quickly, taking a 3-1 lead.

- The Knights battled back with a kill from Chana Rothschild and a block by Rothschild to tie it 4-4.

- Arcadia surged ahead with five straight points fueled by kills from Young and Nina Corazo, taking their first lead at 18-16.

Sydney Steiner set up Young for the final kill, sealing the set 25-19 for Arcadia.

Set 2: ARCADIA 25, MORAVIAN 20

- Moravian tied it early, but multiple service errors kept Arcadia in front, 4-3.

- Rothschild and Kylie Strange powered the Knights to a 7-4 advantage.

- Sydney Steiner added key kills as Arcadia extended the margin to 17-12.

Hannah Fryer delivered a service ace to make it 19-13, keeping momentum with the Knights.

- Corazo finished it off with a service ace, sealing the set 25-20 for Arcadia.

Set 3: ARCADIA 21, MORAVIAN 25

- Arcadia opened with back-to-back points.

- The Greyhounds battled back with kills, staying within one.

- Archelle and Kelsi Warner contributed kills, with Warner also landing a service ace to keep Arcadia ahead 7-4.

- Mid-set rally by Moravian tied the score at 10-10.

- The Greyhounds closed out the set 25-21.

Set 4: ARCADIA 21, MORAVIAN 25

- Moravian jumped out early. 

- Arcadia clawed back with a service ace from Kailyn Riggi and kills from Rothschild, Julianna Lloyd, and Archelle, making it 11-8.

- The Knights kept pushing with a balanced attack with Rothschild, Young, Saenz, and Archelle all recording kills to stay within reach, 17-15.

- Moravian closed strong with a final 3-0 push, sealing the set 25-21.
 

Set 5: ARCADIA 15, MORAVIAN 13

- Moravian opened the decisive set strong, taking a 2-0 lead.

- Arcadia answered quickly with a Young kill, tying it at 3–3.

- The teams traded points to a 7–7 tie.

- The Greyhounds closed the gap with a late ace, but Rothschild's final kill sealed it with Arcadia won the set 15-13 and the match.

- Arcadia opened with a kill from Young.

- The Leopards surged back ahead with a strong serving run.

- Arcadia responded with two service aces from Riggi and another Archelle kill cut the deficit to 14-9.

- Wentworth took the set 25-14.

SET TWO: ARCADIA 13, WENTWORTH 25

- Arcadia fought back with kills from Lloyd and a big block by Lloyd and Rothschild, closing the gap to 6-3.

- The Leopards extended its lead.

- Young sparked Arcadia with kills assisted by Alliy Kulas and Saenz, followed by Fryer adding two more to cut it to 13-9.

- Wentworth took set two, 25-13.

SET THREE: ARCADIA 17, WENTWORTH 25

- The Leopards took an early lead.

- Arcadia fought back with kills from Young, Corazo, and Rothschild, closing it to 21-15.

- Wentworth clinched the set 25-17.
