Women's Ice Hockey Wins Fifth Straight with 3–1 Road Victory at Neumann

ASTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's ice hockey team extended its winning streak to five games with a 3–1 road victory over Neumann University on Friday afternoon, completing the season sweep. The Knights (13-4-2, 11-3-1) opened the scoring early in the second period when Carys Jelley found the back of the net to give Arcadia a 1–0 lead. Haylee Kos delivered the game-winning goal in the third period off assists from Chloe Makinson and Rylie Duffy, while Maeve Hourihan sealed the win with an empty-net, power-play goal in the final minute.

Arcadia controlled play throughout the contest, outshooting Neumann 57–12 and winning the faceoff battle 48–66. Kianna Saillant led the way at the dot with a game-high 17 faceoff wins, while Grace Matthews added 15 wins. The Knights finished 1-for-5 on the power play and successfully killed both Neumann power-play opportunities. Ava Zoppo earned the start in net and stopped 11 shots while allowing just one goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Arcadia set the tone early, firing 15 shots in the opening period, but the Neumann goaltender kept the Knights off the scoreboard.

• The breakthrough came 90 seconds into the second period after shots from Grace Matthews and Maeve Hourihan were turned aside. Carys Jelley capitalized on the rebound, scoring her 10th goal of the season to give Arcadia a 1–0 advantage.

• Neumann responded quickly, tying the game 45 seconds later after Zoppo made the initial save, but the rebound was pushed into the net.

• Arcadia continued to apply pressure for the remainder of the second period, but the teams went into the third period knotted at 1–1.

• The Knights reclaimed the lead at 16:21 of the third period when Haylee Kos beat the goaltender for her sixth goal of the season following sustained offensive pressure.

• With Neumann pressing late and the Knights on the power play, Maeve Hourihan added an empty-net goal in the final minute to secure the 3–1 victory.
