COLMAR, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's ice hockey team earned a high-scoring 6–3 victory over Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon at the Hatfield Ice Arena. The Knights (14-4-2, 12-3-1) built an early four-goal advantage and never looked back, completing the season series with the Dutchmen.
Chloe Makinson led the offensive charge with two goals, while Rheya Zemlak, Carys Jelley, Phoebe Roberts, and Haylee Kos each added a goal. Arcadia controlled the pace of play throughout the contest, outshooting Lebanon Valley 51–30 and dominating the faceoff circle, winning 43 of 66 draws. Kianna Saillant led all players with 14 faceoff wins, followed by Grace Matthews with 13 and Makinson with 11.
The Knights capitalized on special teams, converting two of four power-play opportunities, while the penalty kill unit successfully killed off two of three Lebanon Valley chances. Gabby Meager earned the win in net, stopping 27 shots while allowing three goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Arcadia wasted little time applying offensive pressure, as Reese Plotnikoff rang a shot off the post just one minute into the game.
• Phoebe Roberts, Ava Glab, Chloe Makinson, Haylee Kos, and Charlotte Siksik all generated early scoring chances that were turned aside.
• After Siksik won a faceoff three minutes into the opening period, Leah Hatcher and Kylie Beers cycled the puck to Rheya Zemlak, who blasted a shot over the goalie's shoulder for her second goal of the season to make it 1–0.
• Just 40 seconds later, Hatcher and Maeve Hourihan set up Carys Jelley for her 11th goal of the season, doubling the Arcadia lead.
• At the 8:45 mark of the first period, Grace Matthews and Glab found Roberts, who buried her 14th goal of the season to give the Knights a 3–0 advantage.
• Arcadia struck again early in the second period on the power play, as Kos scored her seventh goal of the season off assists from Matthews and Hatcher.
• Lebanon Valley answered late in the second period to get on the scoreboard, snapping Meager's shutout bid.
• The Knights quickly restored their four-goal cushion when Makinson scored her first goal of the game off an assist from Glab.
• Arcadia carried a 5–1 lead into the third period. Lebanon Valley scored early, but Makinson put the game out of reach with her second goal of the contest and 14th of the season, assisted by Abbi Komrofske and Ericka Roepke.
• The Dutchmen added one more goal midway through the third, but the Knights closed out the 6–3 victory.
