GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team returned home following its season-opening win against Eastern and welcomed Kean University to Jean Lenox West Field. The Knights (2-0, 0-0) remained unbeaten with an 8-5 victory over the Cougars.
Jaylee Killgore led the Knights offensively with four goals, while Mackenzie Clark added two. Avery Ditze and Jordyn Chan each contributed one goal in the win.
Arcadia held the advantage in shots (29-23), shots on goal (20-17), saves (14-13), ground balls (29-23), and draw controls (10-6). The Knights converted their only free-position attempt, while Kean went 1-for-2. Taylor Funcheon earned the start in goal and recorded 14 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Off the opening draw, Mackenzie Clark's first shot was saved. Called into action early, Taylor Funcheon recorded her first save of the game moments later.
• Following back-to-back turnovers, Jaylee Killgore found the back of the net to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. The advantage was short-lived, as Kean responded on the ensuing possession to tie the game at 1-1.
• The Knights regained the lead after Kean was issued a yellow card. Capitalizing on the player advantage, Avery Ditze scored on a free-position attempt.
• Arcadia carried a 2-1 lead into the second quarter.
• Maintaining possession at the end of the first quarter, the Knights struck quickly to open the second. Clark scored to extend the lead to 3-1.
• Kean answered immediately following the next draw control to make it a 3-2 contest. Killgore responded on the next possession after Funcheon came up with another save, restoring a two-goal cushion.
• Killgore completed the hat trick on a player-advantage goal off an assist from Ella Longacre, sending Arcadia into halftime with a 5-2 lead.
• Arcadia was held scoreless in the third quarter, while Kean trimmed the deficit to 5-3.
• Kean opened the fourth quarter with a goal two minutes in, cutting the lead to one. Funcheon made the initial save, but a turnover deep in Arcadia territory led to the Cougars' score.
• Arcadia responded by winning the next draw control. After a successful clear, Killgore netted her fourth goal of the game to push the lead to 6-4.
• Midway through the fourth quarter, Jordyn Chan added an insurance goal off an assist from Clark to make it 7-4.
• Kean scored once more with five minutes remaining before Clark sealed the victory with her second goal of the afternoon.
