Birch Sets Program Digs Record as Men's Volleyball Fall to No. 15 New Paltz

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team dropped a nonconference match to No. 15 SUNY New Paltz on Saturday at home, 3-1. The Knights (6-8) captured the opening set, 26-24, before falling in the next three sets, 25-13, 25-18, and 25-16.

Tucker Curtis led Arcadia with 11 kills. Josh Clendening recorded three service aces, while Reece Dodd posted three blocks. Riley Kodidek dished out 29 assists, and Cameron Birch collected seven digs. With his performance, Birch became the program's all-time leader in digs with 654, surpassing Quinn Baily (2018–22), who previously held the record with 651.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set One: New Paltz 24 – Arcadia 26
• New Paltz jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Knights responded with a 3-0 run to even the score. The Hawks extended their advantage to 9-4 before kills from Reece Dodd and Tucker Curtis cut the deficit to 12-7.
• A 5-1 run by New Paltz pushed the score to 19-9. Arcadia answered with an 8-1 run, highlighted by three aces from Josh Clendening and a pair of kills from Curtis, along with one from Dodd, to pull within 20-17.
• The Knights closed the set on a 9-3 run behind kills from Dodd, Luka Erickson, and two from Clendening to secure the 26-24 victory.

Set Two: New Paltz 25 – Arcadia 13
• A kill from Curtis gave the Knights a 3-2 lead early in the set, but errors allowed New Paltz to regain control and build a 9-6 advantage.
• Kills from Erickson, Clendening, and Aidan Mackowiak helped keep Arcadia within reach, but the Hawks closed the set on a 12-4 run to even the match at one set apiece.

Set Three: New Paltz 25 – Arcadia 18
• After an early kill from Curtis, the Knights used block assists from Curtis and Dodd, along with a solo block from Dodd, to pull within two at 7-5.
Jayden Wacaster recorded his first kill of the set, and Kodidek added an ace. However, a 7-2 run by the Hawks shifted momentum in their favor.
• Arcadia mounted a brief 3-0 run with kills from Curtis and Dodd, but New Paltz responded with a 3-0 stretch of its own.
• Kills from Kodidek and Erickson kept the Knights within striking distance, but the Hawks claimed the final point to take the set, 25-18.

Set Four: New Paltz 25 – Arcadia 16
• Clendening and Dodd opened the set with early kills, but New Paltz built a 6-4 lead. After Curtis and Erickson added kills, the Hawks used a 4-0 run to extend their advantage to 12-7.
• A 4-1 run by the Knights, fueled by two Erickson kills and one from Curtis, trimmed the deficit to 13-11.
• Curtis, Dodd, Wacaster, and Erickson accounted for Arcadia's final four points, but New Paltz finished the set on a 9-3 run to secure the match.
