GLENSIDE - The Arcadia University Department of Athletics and Recreation hosted its seventh National Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinic on Saturday, January 31st.
The clinic, which ran from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., was free for all children ages 6-11 and featured stations offering instruction on different sports from current Knights' athletes and coaches inside the Dome and Multi-Purpose Facility. 95 children attended while 73 athletes and coaches participated.
Teams in attendance for Arcadia were swimming, women's lacrosse, field hockey, softball, women's volleyball, baseball, golf, and women's soccer. The University mascot Archie also made an appearance at the event.
After the game, all participants were given free admission to the Knight's women's basketball victory over Stevens at 1:00 p.m.
The NGWSD event, powered by the Women's Sports Foundation, is in its 37th year nationally. The event began in 1987 as a special day in our nation's capital to recognize women in sports. National Girls and Women in Sports Day has since evolved into an event to acknowledge the accomplishments of female athletes, the positive influence of sports participation and the continuing struggle for equality for women in sports.
