Men's Wrestling Competes at NCAA Division III Championships in Program’s Inaugural Season

CEDAR RAPIDS, Ia – Arcadia University wrestlers Jacob Blair (133), James Lledo (184), and Logan Flynn (285) represented the Knights at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The trio competed for the program's first individual national title and All-America honor, but Arcadia's run at the national tournament came to an end on day one of competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED

133 pounds
Jacob Blair

Blair opened his tournament with an impressive victory, defeating Connor Fiser (Loras) by fall in the first period. In the quarterfinals, Blair faced Jake Craig (Southern Maine) and fell by major decision, 12-1.

Still alive in the consolation bracket with a chance to advance to day two and secure the program's first All-America honor, Blair faced Chance Suddeth (Augsburg). Suddeth earned an 11-1 major decision victory, ending Blair's tournament run.

James Lledo

Lledo entered the tournament unranked and began his competition in a preliminary match against Casey Aikman (North Central, Ill.). Aikman secured the win by technical fall, 17-2.

Needing a victory to keep his tournament hopes alive, Lledo faced Khalil Mitchell (Averett) in the consolation bracket. After giving up an early takedown, Lledo responded with an escape and a takedown of his own before securing the victory by fall.

In his next bout, Lledo was defeated by Easton Hull (Wisconsin-Stevens Point) by major decision, 11-0, ending his tournament.

285 pounds
Logan Flynn

Flynn suffered a knee injury in his opening-round match against Wyatt Smith (Coe). Despite attempting to continue, Flynn was unable to finish the bout and fell by injury default.

Flynn returned during the evening session to face a familiar opponent in Owen Reber (Alvernia), but Reber secured the victory by fall, ending Flynn's tournament.
