FREDERICK, Md. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten, continuing the best start in program history with a 12-10 road victory over Hood College on Saturday morning. The Knights improve to 8-0 on the season.
Avery Ditze, Mackenzie Clark, and Jaylee Killgore each recorded hat tricks to lead the offense. Jordyn Chan, Allyson Reidenbach, and Ella Longacre added one goal apiece. Killgore led the team with three ground balls, while Clark and Nikki McMenamin each caused two turnovers. Clark also controlled three draws. Taylor Funcheon earned the win in goal, making nine saves while allowing 10 goals.
Shots were nearly even, with Hood holding a slight 31-29 edge, while Arcadia led in shots on goal, 19-18. Hood committed one more turnover, 18-17. The Knights held a narrow advantage in ground balls, 15-14, while Hood led in draw controls, 17-7. Both teams finished 1-for-5 on free-position attempts.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Arcadia controlled the opening draw, and less than a minute into the game, Jaylee Killgore had a free-position opportunity, but her shot went wide. Hood responded with two quick goals on consecutive possessions to take an early 2-0 lead.

Following a Hood turnover, Avery Ditze got Arcadia on the board with her first goal of the game. On the ensuing draw, Mackenzie Clark raced downfield and scored to tie the game at 2-2 with just under 11 minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Three minutes later, Allyson Reidenbach found the back of the net off an assist from Killgore to give the Knights a 3-2 lead.

After Hood was assessed a green card, Clark capitalized with a man-up goal—her second of the game—to extend the lead to 4-2.

Hood answered with just over three minutes left in the quarter, but Jordyn Chan responded after a caused turnover by Olivia Forant, restoring a two-goal lead at 5-3. Chan then won the ensuing draw, and Killgore converted on another man-up opportunity to give Arcadia a 6-3 lead heading into the second quarter.

Hood opened the second-quarter scoring, but Ditze answered midway through the frame with a man-up goal to make it 7-4.

Ella Longacre added another man-up goal with just over two minutes remaining in the half, sending the Knights into the break with an 8-4 advantage.

The teams traded goals early in the third quarter. Hood converted on a man-up free-position attempt, but Clark completed her hat trick on the following possession to make it 9-5.

Killgore added another man-up goal to push the lead to 10-5 with seven minutes left in the third. Hood added one late goal in the quarter, but Arcadia carried a 10-6 lead into the fourth.

Hood struck early in the final period to cut the deficit to three, but Killgore and Ditze each completed their hat tricks with under 10 minutes to play. Killgore scored off an assist from Chan, and Ditze followed with a goal assisted by Longacre.

Hood attempted a late comeback with three straight goals, but a final caused turnover by Clark sealed the 12-10 victory for Arcadia.
