Women's Lacrosse Suffer First Loss of Season at Widener in Nonconference Finale

CHESTER, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team suffered its first setback of the season, falling 11–9 to Widener University in its final nonconference contest. The Knights move to 9–1 on the year.

Mackenzie Clark led the offense with five goals, while Jaylee Killgore added two. Avery Ditze and Allyson Reidenbach each found the back of the net for Arcadia. Widener held advantages in shots (27–22) and shots on goal (14–11), while both teams were nearly even in turnovers, with Arcadia committing 15 to Widener's 14.

The Knights excelled in transition, going 12-for-13 on clears while limiting the Pride to 16-for-23. Arcadia also controlled the draw, 15–7, led by Jordyn Chan's game-high five draw controls. On free-position attempts, the Knights converted 2-of-5, while Widener went 3-of-9.

Taylor Funcheon made 10 saves in goal and allowed 11 goals, while also leading the team with three ground balls. Ditze and Nikki McMenamin each recorded two caused turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Arcadia opened the scoring early in the first quarter after McMenamin forced a turnover, leading to Clark's 19th goal of the season.

• Following a draw control by Alejandra Roemer, Clark scored again off an assist from Killgore to give the Knights a 2–0 lead.

• Widener responded with three goals over the final five minutes of the quarter to take a 3–2 lead into the second.

• The Pride carried that momentum into the second quarter, scoring the first three goals to extend the lead to 6–2 with just over 10 minutes remaining in the half.

• After a timeout, Clark completed her hat trick to cut the deficit in half.

• With under two minutes remaining in the half, Reidenbach scored following a Widener yellow card to make it 6–4.

• Less than a minute later, Clark converted a free-position attempt for her fourth goal of the game, sending the Knights into halftime trailing 6–5.

• Six minutes into the third quarter, Killgore capitalized off a caused turnover and ground ball by Ditze to tie the game at 6–6.

• Widener answered to regain a 7–6 lead before Arcadia responded with consecutive goals, including Killgore's second of the game, to even the score at 7–7.

• Clark then converted another free-position opportunity with just over two minutes remaining in the third to give Arcadia an 8–7 advantage.

• The Pride tied the game at 8–8 with one minute left in the quarter.

• Widener opened the fourth quarter with two goals to take a 10–8 lead.

• Ditze brought the Knights within one at 10–9 with just over five minutes remaining after Chan controlled the draw.

• The Pride added an insurance goal late to secure the 11–9 victory.
