GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team returned to the win column in emphatic fashion, rolling past Delaware Valley, 18–3, on Wednesday afternoon to open MAC Freedom play. The Knights improve to 10–1 overall and 1–0 in conference action.
Arcadia was powered by a historic performance from Jaylee Killgore, who scored nine goals. Avery Ditze added four goals, while Ella Longacre chipped in two. Sophia Dwyer, Molly Durkin, and Meghan Graham each scored once in the victory.
The Knights controlled the game across the board, outshooting the Aggies 39–14, including a 24–6 advantage in shots on goal. Arcadia forced 26 turnovers while committing 14, collected 31 ground balls to Delaware Valley's 17, and won the draw control battle 14–8. The Knights were a perfect 22-for-22 on clears and held the Aggies to 12-for-30.
Taylor Funcheon started in goal and made three saves while allowing one goal in the first half. Angelina Vecchione played the second half, recording three saves and allowing two goals. Longacre led all players with five ground balls and added a team-high three caused turnovers, while Mairead O'Connell controlled a game-high five draws.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Arcadia opened the scoring five minutes into the game after Nikki McMenamin forced a turnover and collected the ground ball. Killgore finished the play off an assist from Mackenzie Clark for her 37th goal of the season.
• Four minutes later, following a saved free-position attempt, Longacre gathered the ground ball and scored to make it 2–0.
• Just over 90 seconds later, another Delaware Valley turnover led to Killgore's second goal of the game, extending the lead to 3–0.
• With just over three minutes remaining in the first, Clark collected a ground ball and set up Graham for a goal, pushing the lead to 4–0.
• Ditze helped create the final goal of the quarter, forcing a turnover and eventually finding Killgore for her third goal, giving Arcadia a 5–0 lead after one.
• The Knights struck quickly in the second, as Longacre scored off an assist from Killgore to make it 6–0.
• After the Aggies got on the board, Ditze responded immediately following the draw control to make it 7–1.
• Longacre caused another turnover that led to Killgore's fourth goal of the game.
• Killgore added a man-up goal, and Dwyer followed with her first career goal on a free-position attempt to extend the lead to 10–1.
• Ditze scored twice more, and Killgore added another goal to give Arcadia a commanding 13–1 lead at halftime.
• The Knights continued to control play in the third quarter, with Killgore scoring twice and Ditze adding another goal to make it 16–1.
• Delaware Valley opened the fourth-quarter scoring, but Killgore answered with her ninth goal of the game, setting a new program record for goals in a single game.
• Arcadia closed out the scoring after Lylah Placek caused a turnover and Elizabeth Zanca secured the ground ball. The possession ended with Kyra Moyer assisting Durkin for the final goal.
