Women's Golf Sit Fifth After Opening Round at MAC Championship

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's golf team opened play at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship on Saturday at Berkleigh Golf Club. After round one, the Knights sit in fifth place out of 11 teams with a score of 399 (+111). Berkleigh is a par 72 course playing 5,608 yards.

Taylor Gardner led the way for Arcadia with an opening-round 90 (+18) and is currently tied for 14th overall.

Gardner carded a 46 (+11) on the front nine, recording her lone par on the par-4 ninth hole. She improved on the back nine with a 44 (+7), adding three pars, including back-to-back pars on holes 15 and 16.

Katherine Gaffney is second for the Knights and sits in 22nd place after posting a 97 (+25). She shot a 43 (+8) on the front with four pars, including three consecutive pars on holes six through eight. On the back, Gaffney recorded a 54 (+17) with a par on the par-4 10th hole.

Kaitlynn Clark finished third for Arcadia with a 103 (+31), placing her in a tie for 25th. She opened with a 53 (+18) on the front before improving to a 50 (+13) on the back, where she recorded three pars.

Kylie Beers rounded out the team scoring with a 109 (+37) and is in 29th place. She shot a 53 (+18) on the front and a 56 (+19) on the back, highlighted by a par on the par-3 15th hole.

Cristy Gori carded a 121 (+49), competing as the team's fifth golfer. She shot a 63 (+28) on the front and a 58 (+21) on the back to sit in 37th place.

York leads the field after the opening round with a 322 (+34), holding a 35-stroke advantage over Stevenson. Hood (366, +78) and Alvernia (391, +103) sit ahead of Arcadia in third and fourth, respectively. Eastern (432, +144), Lebanon Valley (439, +151), Misericordia (451, +163), FDU-Florham (461, +173), Albright (463, +175), and King's (510, +222) round out the standings. Victoria Jolakian of York leads the individual field with a 78 (+6).

The final round of the MAC Championship will conclude on Sunday, with the Knights scheduled to tee off beginning at 11:21 a.m.
