GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team battled through a weather delay and still came away with a dominant 7-0 victory over Alvernia University at home to open the 2026 campaign. The Knights (1-0-0) received two goals from first-year Mia Casey in her collegiate debut, three goals from Sadie Nugent, a goal from just inside midfield by Victoria Goad, and an own goal to secure the shutout victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights wasted little time applying pressure, earning three corner kicks within the first 10 minutes of play. Olivia Gehman also had three quality looks at goal, but the score remained tied.
- Casey broke through in the 10th minute, scoring on her first collegiate shot off an assist from Nugent.
- Just over six minutes later, Casey added her second goal of the afternoon to put the Knights ahead 2-0, again off an assist from Nugent.
- Nugent then got in on the scoring action when Charlotte Anderson found her with a pass. Nugent needed little space before firing a shot into the back of the net for her first of three goals.
- The Knights' defense was relentless, holding Alvernia without a shot throughout the opening half as Arcadia took a 3-0 lead into the break.
- Nugent struck early in the second half for her second goal of the game before play was halted for a weather delay.
- When play resumed, Nugent completed her hat trick in the 65th minute off an assist from Natasha Muzechenko.
- Just 90 seconds later, the Knights were fouled just inside midfield. Goad took the ensuing free kick and blasted a shot over the goalkeeper's head for her first goal of the season and the first of her career, making it 6-0.
- In the 69th minute, the Knights added an own goal to extend their advantage to 7-0.
- Alvernia was unable to record a shot in the second half, as the Knights' defense held firm to secure the 7-0 shutout victory.
