IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team continued its hot start to the season with a 3-0 sweep of Immaculata University Tuesday evening on the road. The Knights improved to 8-1 on the season with set victories of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-21. Arcadia hit .226 for the match while holding the Mighty Macs to a .046 hitting percentage. Raegan Oursler led the offensive attack with 11 kills, while Kaitlyn Small added four aces and 17 assists, Chana Rothschild and Devon Young each recorded two blocks, and Bell led the defensive effort with 10 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE: Arcadia 25, Immaculata 22
· Raegan Oursler recorded the first kill of the match to put the Knights ahead 1-0. The Mighty Macs responded with a 4-0 run to take the lead before Oursler added another kill to halt the run.
· A kill from Anna Keer and an ace from Avery Bell tied the set at 6-6 before Devon Young's kill sparked a 5-0 run that put Arcadia ahead 12-7. Mia Beckett recorded three kills during the run, while Kaitlyn Small added an ace.
· Immaculata cut into the deficit with a 4-0 run before a 3-0 run gave the Mighty Macs a 16-15 lead. The Knights responded with kills from Beckett, Chana Rothschild, Oursler and Morgan Orsulak to regain a 21-19 advantage.
· After another Immaculata run, Arcadia closed the set with three straight points, highlighted by an ace from Alliy Kulas and a final kill from Beckett, to secure the 25-22 victory.
SET TWO: Arcadia 25, Immaculata 18
· Orsulak opened the scoring with a kill before Immaculata tied the set at 1-1. Arcadia then exploded for a 9-2 run to take a commanding lead. Bell recorded a pair of aces during the run, while Orsulak added two kills and a block and Young contributed a kill.
· Young, Beckett, Oursler and Keer continued to find success offensively as the Knights extended their lead to 18-9. Rothschild added a solo block during the run.
· Immaculata attempted to mount a comeback with an 8-3 run, but kills from Young and Oursler closed out the set and gave Arcadia a 2-0 lead in the match.
SET THREE: Arcadia 25, Immaculata 21
· Oursler opened the third set with a kill to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. After Arcadia extended the advantage to 2-0, the Mighty Macs responded with a 4-0 run to take their first lead of the set.
· Oursler's kill halted the run before a kill from Keer and an ace from Bell tied the set at 6-6.
· Young's kill sparked a 5-0 run that included three kills from Beckett and an ace from Small. The Mighty Macs answered with a 4-0 run of their own to keep the set close.
· The Knights regained control down the stretch with kills from Rothschild, Oursler and Orsulak before Beckett recorded the final kill to secure the 25-21 victory and complete the sweep.
