COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's tennis team opened its 2026-27 season with a 5-2 setback against Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Knights earned two singles victories, with Bernardo Figueiredo and Jet Taylor each picking up straight-set wins.
Figueiredo delivered a strong performance at No. 1 singles, defeating Ursinus' Teddy Snyder, 6-2, 6-4. Taylor also secured a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles against Devin Carter.
Arcadia was unable to secure the doubles point, despite a competitive performance at No. 3. Taylor and Kajuan Haughton pushed Devin Carter and Pierce Rohlfing to a tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-3). At No. 1 doubles, Bernardo and Luis Figueiredo fell 6-3 to Russell Nour and Deniz Finkel, while Aaron Allen and Kevin McHale dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Allen fell to Finkel, 6-2, 6-3, while McHale dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Nour. Luis Figueiredo fell 6-3, 6-3 to Charles DiCicco at No. 4 singles, and Stas Bazarov was defeated by Bogdan Maksimovic, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5.
The Knights fall to 0-1 on the season, while Ursinus improves to 1-0.
