COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's tennis team opened its 2026-27 season with a 6-1 setback against Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon at the Ace Bailey Tennis Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Knights picked up their lone point of the afternoon at No. 1 singles, where Jada Young earned a dominant straight-set victory over Ursinus' Nicolette Agassi, 6-4, 6-1. Young controlled the match from the start, dropping just five games en route to the victory.
Ursinus secured the doubles point with wins at all three positions. Young and Jessie Friel battled Nicolette Agassi and Morgan Coupe at No. 1 doubles before falling 6-1. Nicole Scannapieco and Michelle Planita dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 2, while Kaylee Higgins and Nayah Johnson fell 6-0 at No. 3.
In singles play, Ursinus earned victories at the remaining five positions. Meg Taylor defeated Kaylee Higgins, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, while Caroline Daly posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Nicole Scannapieco at No. 3.
Morgan Coupe defeated Jessie Friel, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles, Abigail Niculcea topped Michelle Planita, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5, and Sara Steelesmith defeated Nayah Johnson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6.
The Knights begin the season 0-1, while Ursinus improves to 1-0.
