Thirteen personal best times set in dual loss to Etown

GLENSIDE, PA:  (Nov. 6, 2010) -  [Meet Results] Arcadia Men's and Women's Swimming hosted Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Elizabethtown College Saturday afternoon and although the Knights were swept on the scoreboard, Arcadia's swimmers set thirteen individual personal best times.

While the women's final score read Etown 124, Arcadia 76, six of the personal best times set were from Arcadia's Women's team.  On the men's side, the Knights and Blue Jays needed all 11 events to decide a winner with Etown's win in the final 200 Freestyle Relay the deciding factor in the teams' four point victory over Arcadia, 86-82.

Oliver McCormick '13, Aaron Knock '12, and Jason Sharpe '11 each finished with two first place medals to lead the men's squad.  McCormick earned top honors in the 200 Freestyle (1:57.60) and 500 Freestyle (5:25.33) where he set a new personal record by three seconds.  Knock claimed two first place medals in the 50 Free (23.54), a new personal best, and in the 100 Fly (1:01.07).  Sharpe's new personal best and first place finish in the 200 IM (2:15.33) was the fuel he needed when his top performance in the 100 Breast gave his Knights the lead with one relay event to go.  As Knock made his final turn in the 100 Breast, he and Etown's Shaun Martin were neck and neck.  Sharpe quicky glanced over at Martin in the final stretch and turned it on, taking first in .16 of a second to give his team a 78-75 lead, however, the Blue Jays would go onto take the 200 Freestyle Relay to win the meet.  In the 100 Backstroke, Steve Haasis '11 took second place (1:05.16) while Sean Robinson '14 placed third (1:05.88), a new personal best, to round out the top performers for Arcadia's men's team.

For Arcadia's women, Jessica Parker '12 earned the lone first place medal, setting a new personal best in the 100 Freestyle (58.50).  Parker started the afternoon with a second place finish in the 50 Freestyle (26.86).  Other second place honors for the women included Katie Nagy '14 in the 1000 Freestyle (12:31.16), Stephanie Bartolotta '11 in the 200 Freestyle (2:12.86), and personal bests for Tess Geib '12 in the 100 Fly (1:08.99) and Caitlin Culhane '12 in the 100 Breaststroke (1:22.96).  Other new personal best records set included Rebecca Wenner 'GR in the 50 Free (28.83), Catey Nunnari '13 in the 500 Freestyle (6:05.44) while Danielle DiSanto '11 set two personal best times in the 100 Butterfly (1:09.53) and 100 Breaststroke (1:23.14).

Up next for the Knights will be MAC rival FDU, a road meet on Nov. 9.  The team then travels for a non-conference matchup with Goucher on Nov. 20 and a double-dual at Bryn Mawr on Dec. 1 vs. Bryn Mawr and Cabrini before returning home to host Marywood University on Dec. 4 at 1 PM.
