Glenside, PA: (Sept. 29, 2010) - Arcadia University fell to Commonwealth for Messiah College this evening in straight sets (25-22, 25-13, 25-15), to fall to 6-9 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
In what proved to be the most competitive set of the day, Arcadia and Messiah went back in forth in the first set, each team converting on their attacks. The Knights would tie the Falcons of Messiah at 22-all before the Falcons would rally off the final three points to win the first set, 25-22. From then on Messiah would elevate their level of play and the Knights were unable to counter, only managing 13 points in the second set and 15 points in the third. The victory for Messiah was the second over Arcadia this season, as the Falcons won the two teams earlier match 3-1.
First-year Krista Hsu (Newark, DE/Delcastle Tech) had one of her best matches as a Knight, leading the team with nine kills on twenty-one attempts. Classmate Carlee Rossiter (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) led the team with 21 assists and senior Christina DiMichele (Media, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) had a team leading 9 digs for the Knights.
Arcadia returns to action this Saturday October 2nd when they host the first MAC cross-over tournament featuring Alvernia University, Delaware Valley College, and Manhattanville College. The Knights will take on Manhattanville at 11 AM and Delaware Valley at 3 PM.
