No. 2 doubles match highlights Knights 8-1 loss at Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa.:  First year's Dominique Canale (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and Kaila Gaughan (Millville, NJ/Millville) outlasted Carbini's No. 2 doubles pairing of Samantha Trumbo and Adriana Scotto to win the match 9-8, earning the Knight's lone point Friday afternoon in an 8-1 loss at non-conference rival Cabrini College.

While the host Caveliers took two of three doubles matches, Arcadia nearly took a win at the top position.  Seniors Megan Gillespie (Oro Valley, AZ/Ironwood Ridge) and Beth Osipowitz (Aberdeen, NJ/St. John Vianney) battled it out with Cabrini's Alexis DiCamillo and Katie Kennedy at No. 1 doubles, coming up short 8-5.

With a 3-0 lead for Cabrini heading into singles competition, Arcadia's toughest matches came at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 where the Knights put forth a strong fight.  At No. 3, Gaughan settled for a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Michelle Lettmann and at No. 4, Canale was retired 6-4, 6-4 by Scotto.

Sophomore Jasmine Peake (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) went toe-to-toe with Trumbo at No. 5 singles.  Trumbo would force a third set tie breaker after Peake won the first set 7-5.  Trumbo finished the match with wins in sets two and three, 10-8, 10-8.

Up next for Arcadia (0-3) will be a home non-conference match with Bryn Mawr College, this Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m.
