Volleyball falls to Messiah on the road

GRANTHAM, Pa.:  Senior Hailey Barger (Sitka, AK/Sitka) led the Knight's attack with 7 kills against a strong Messiah College squad that combined for a .237 attacking percentage with the host Falcons defeating Arcadia University 3-0 in Wednesday night's Commonwealth Conference match. 

Set scores were: 25-17, 25-6, 25-25. 

Arcadia (4-11 overall, 0-5 CC) remains in search of their first league win of the season with two more tries remaining on their schedule against Lebanon Valley on the road (10/18) and Elizabethtown at home (10/26).   Messiah improves to 14-5 overall with an unblemished league record of 5-0. 

Barger also added 2 solo blocks and 3 digs to pace Arcadia.  Junior Delaney Dobson (Horsham, PA/Archbishop Wood) put up 5 kills, 3 digs and 1 solo block while first year Olivia Shaner (Reading, PA/Govenor Mifflin) chipped in with 4 kills and 8 digs.  Junior Jessyca Stoler (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) dished out 14 assists and sophomore libro Veronika Bailey (Plato, MO/Plato) added 11 digs to bring her season total up to 206.

Barger leads the team on the offense this season with a .250 attacking percentage and is a force at the net with 32 total blocks while Stoler is nearing her 350th assist of the season (346).

The Knights move on to face Valley Forge Christian College this Saturday at home, kicking off a full day of home athletic contests in Glenside for Family Weekend-Fall Fest.  Saturday's non-conference match will begin at 11 a.m. in Alumni Gymnasium.
