Box Score Glenside, PA (November 28, 2012) - The Arcadia University Knights (2-2, 0-1 MCOM) dropped their conference opener tonight to the Albright College Lions (5-0, 1-0 MCOM), 83-72. The Knights trailed by three midway through the second half, but a 13-0 run by Albright upped their advantage to 16 points and the Knights could not recover.
Malcolm Still led the Knights with 16 points off the bench.
Albright started quickly and took a 17-8 lead at the 13:41 mark of the first half. The Lions extended their advantage to 10 points at 22-12 with 11:01 to play in the opening half. The Knights then used an 8-1 run to get to within three points at 23-20 at 8:27. Arcadia could not get closer than three and Albright did not go up by more than six for the rest of the half and the Lions took a 34-30 lead into the break.
Khalief Trawick,
Jose Figueroa and Travis Saltus each scored six points to lead the Knights. Dave Singleton had 13 points to lead all scorers for Albright. The Lions shot 45.2% from the field and held the Knights to 31.6%. Arcadia had a slim rebounding edge, 26-25 and committed just five turnovers while forcing six.
Albright scored the first basket of the second half, but Arcadia scored the next four points to cut the lead to two points at 36-34. The Lions responded with an 11-2 run that gave them their largest lead at 47-36 at the 15: 01 mark. Arcadia then got back to within four points at 49-45 and then trimmed to lead to three points at 56-53 at the 10:44 mark.
The Lions scored the next 13 points to take their largest lead of the game at 69-53 with 7:57 to play in the second half. Arcadia could only get as close as 11 points down the stretch and fell by the 11-point margin.
Still was 5-10 from the field with three rebounds and three steals. Trawick added 15 points, while
Joe Brown and
Aaron Lee-Webb each had 11 points. Singleton led all scorers with 18 points for the Lions. Albright shot 50.8% from the field and held Arcadia to 38.9%. The rebounding totals were tied at 46 each and the Lions turned the ball over 14, while Arcadia had 13 turnovers.
The Knights return to action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to face Stevenson in MAC Commonwealth action.
