Women's Basketball Drops MAC Road Contest at Stevenson

Box Score Owings Mills, MD (December 1, 2012) - The Arcadia University Knights (4-2, 0-2 MAAC) dropped their second straight MAC Commonwealth game this afternoon, falling to the Stevenson Mustangs (3-1, 1-1), 73-55. A 14-4 run by Stevenson gave them an eight point lead at the break and they scored the first 11 points of the second half to take a 19-point lead and never looked back. Tamara Moskowitz scored 10 points off the bench to lead Arcadia.

The Knights started quickly and jumped out to a lead. They led by as many as four points early on. A layup by Victoria Roukas gave Arcadia a 23-20 lead at the 7:38 mark, but the Mustangs ended the half on a 14-4 run to take a 34-26 lead into the break.

Dominque Hassinger and Maureen Fiocca each scored six points to lead Arcadia in the first half. Kyarra Harmon led all scorers with 10 points for Stevenson. The Knights were held to just over 31% shooting and the Mustangs shot 37% from the field. Stevenson had a 27-26 lead on the boards and they forced 13 Knight turnovers while committing just seven.

Stevenson started the second half the way they ended the first, scoring the first 11 points and taking a 45-26 lead at the 15:11 mark. The Knights got back to within 13 points at 49-36, but that was as close as they would get in the 18-point loss.

Moskowitz was 2-3 from the field and 5-6 from the line with two assists and two steals. Harmon recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds for Stevenson. The Knights shot just over 35% from the field, while Stevenson shot nearly 38%. The Mustangs won the board battle 54-40 and forced 28 turnovers while committing 19.

Arcadia will return to action on Wednesday night whey host Lebanon Valley for a 6pm tip-off.
