GLENSIDE, PA (April 10, 2012) - Arcadia University Head Softball Coach Linda Detra joked with her players after the game that it may have been the ugliest bunt--a pop-up that landed behind the pitcher in the circle--but it was the beginning of a come-from-behind rally in the bottom of the sixth inning that led to career win No. 399 for the head coach and put a dash in visiting Lebanon Valley's hopes of a series sweep in today's Commonwealth Conference match-up.

The Dutchmen took the opener by a 7-2 result before the Knights rallied from two runs down in the sixth with a six-run frame and held on to defeat Lebanon Valley 6-4 in the nightcap.

Arcadia jumps to 6th place overall within the league standings (2-6 CC) while evening their record to 13-13. Fourth place Lebanon Valley stands at 5-3 against Commonwealth opponents and 16-10 on the season.

The game one win went to Dutchmen starter Tessa Palmerio (10-5) tossing a complete game five-hitter with 2 earned on 2 walks while fanning 7.  Jessica Wood '14 (7-4) was credited with the loss through 7 innings worked with 7 earned on 9 hits and 4 walks while fanning 2.

Trailing 5-0, Arcadia got on the board with a two-run bottom of five using a lead-off double to right from Leanda Helms '14. Palmerio tossed a walk to Corrin Showalter '13 and both runners moved to second and third off a sacrifice hit from Amanda Tomasheck '14.  Lindsey Henchinski '12 (2-4, 2 RBI) would rip a single to the gap in center, driving in Helms and Showalter for the Knights' only runs of the contest.  LebVal plated two final runs in the top of seven and held Arcadia scoreless to take the opener.

The Dutchmen stayed with Palmerio for the game two start but the Knights would attest to a different outcome in the nightcap.  Game two remained scoreless until the visitors put up single runs in the top of the third and fifth yet the Knights used a huge 1-2-3 inning in the top of six behind starter Heather Buriak to light the fire behind their offense in the home half.

Henchinski got the frame rolling with a lead-off single to right, taking her place at second off a pop-up bunt single from Erin Wojcieszyn '12 that Detra noted as the momentum-changer.  Both runners advanced on a wild pitch from Palmerio.  Brandee Zablotsky '12 brought Arcadia first run home on a single to left before the LebVal starter was able to notch the inning's first out.  Jess Wood '14 reignited Arcadia's run production, using a two-run single to put the Knights on top 4-2.  A walk to Helms placed runners on first and second and then Buriak helped herself to a single plus a base on an error in the field, driving in another run for a 5-2 Arcadia advantage.  Before the frame came to a close, the Knights tacked on a final run for a 6-2 lead.

The Dutchmen threatened in the top of the seventh, producing two runs on three hits but a spot-on throw from Marissa Perez '13 to Showalter at third beat the LebVal runner on out number three clearing the Arcadia dugout in celebration of their 6-4 victory.

Buriak (3-4) walked three, fanned 1 and allowed 3 earned against 11 hits while going 1-3 with an RBI.  Wood finished 2-3 with 2 RBI while Zablotsky went 2-3 with a run scored and one driven in.

Palmerio (10-6) was the losing pitcher of record on 4 earned runs against 8 hits and a walk while fanning 5.

The Knights are aiming to give Coach Detra her milestone 400th win when they travel to Swarthmore College this Thursday for a non-conference doubleheader.  First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
