Box Score

IMMACULATA, PA (April 11, 2012) - Today's featuerd men's tennis lineup was industrious and tireless for Arcadia University in their non-league match at host Immaculata as the Knights gritted out a gratifying 5-3 victory over the Mighty Macs.  In the process, Arcadia strikes their third victory in the past seven days and puts and end to Immaculata's three-match run.

Arcadia improves to 4-6 overall and returns to their Commonwealth schedule this weekend at home with a winning attitude.  After an 0-8 start to the season, Immaculata drops to 3-9.

Every ladder position was a slug fest.  Arcadia was held to just one match win in doubles competition, with David Battistelli '15 and Mitchell Nazarov '15, 8-4 winners over Eric Schmidt/Joe Walker at No. 2.

Top singles pinned AU's Chris Finney '12 against IU's Demetrios Vlahos and the two clashed till Vlahos escaped with a 7-6(7-4), 7-6(7-1) win.

Second singles, and all the matches to follow were a rollercoaster and when the ride was over, the Knights had taken three through six singles and hammered out the 3 pt. decision.

Although AU's Jeremy Garcia '15 faced Eric Smith in another third set tie-breaker showdown at No. 2, it went unfinished and no point resulted.

Right there to pick up Arcadia's top singles duo, were another senior, along with a junior, sophomore and first year to cap a complete team effort on the road this afternoon.

Earning points for Arcadia were Max Amiel '12 at No. 3 and Herminio Quinones '13 playing No. 4, both winning in third set tie-breaker fashion.  Dean Search '14 added a win at No. 5, and finishing 2-0 on the day was Nazarov, adding the win at No. 6.

Arcadia returns home to host Lycoming College this Saturday, April 14 in a noon doubleheader with the women's squad.  A win this weekend can put the Knights (1-1 CC, 4-6) at  2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference standings and into contention for a play-off spot with three remaining league matches.
