GLENSIDE, PA:  Arcadia University Softball hosted Delaware Valley College in today's non-conference doubleheader at Blankley Field, picking up their 12th victory of the season with a split against the visiting Aggies.  Jess Wood '13 tossed a complete game two and went 2-4 with a run scored and one batted in to help Arcadia to a 9-8 game two win.  The Aggies came back from a 3-2 hole to edge the Knights in the opener 6-5.

Lindsey Henchinksi '12 and Corrin Showalter '13 paced the Knights in game one, each tallying two hits and one run scored. Henchinski's run-scoring double in the second that brought Showalter home, put the Knights on top 2-1, before Showalter added an RBI in the 4th inning that put the Knights in front 3-2 after the Aggies had tied the game again at 2-all in the top of the inning.

DelVal would benefit from a four-run top of six, taking a 6-3 lead and would hold the Knights to just one run in the home half and one more in their final at-bat to steal game one by a 6-5 result.

Heather Buriak (2-4) suffered the game one loss, entering in the fifth for starter Kelsey Roberts

Arcadia found themselves an early 1-0 lead in the nightcap and out-scored the Aggies 4-2 in the third inning for a 5-2 advantage.  Henchinski ripped a single to left to start the third and would be brought home on an RBI single to center from Brandee Zablotsky '13.  A two-run single to right from Jess Campbell '14 and an RBI single to right field from Staci Lynn Borell '14 capped the frame giving the Knights a three-run buffer.

The Aggies crept back into the contest, plating single scores in the top of four and five, allowing Arcadia just a 5-4 advantage but another productive inning in the bottom of the sixth allowed the Knights to extend their lead to 9-4 to enter the seventh.  A run-scoring double from game two starter Jess Wood '13 got the inning going while Marissa Perez '13 helped herself to a two-run double to left center before scoring an unearned run that placed Knights ahead by five.

Things got somewhat hairy for Arcadia in the top of the seventh as they loaded the bases on back to back singles and a walk, but despite the Aggies putting up four scores, the Knights salvaged the inning on Wood's fifth strikeout of the game to escape with a 9-8 victory.

Arcadia moves to 12-10 (1-3 CC) on the year while the Aggies stand at 7-10 overall.

Widener University visits Blankley Field for a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader this Thursday, April 5.  Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
