Women's Lacrosse Drops a Heartbreaker at King's

WILKES-BARRE, PA:  Arcadia University Women's Lacrosse saw their win-streak against King's College come to a close this afternoon as the Knights dropped a tough battle in Freedom Conference play to the host Lady Monarchs by a 15-12 final.  Arcadia had piled up wins over King's in the past three seasons but with today's loss, the squad falls to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in Freedom play.

Arcadia fell behind 2-0 in the opening four minutes but battled back to tie the game at 2-all with unassisted scores by Haylee Molloy '15 and Jaclyn Feffer '15 to highlight a thrilling first half.

The Knights, although never able to pull ahead of King's on the board, fought back to force six ties over the course of the opening thirty minutes of action, settling for a 11-8 halftime deficit, never trailing by more than three until the final five minutes of regulation.

King's received steady scoring from Amanda Harney and Mariah Masciarelli, each netting five goals.

Arcadia's scoring came off four goals from Molloy (7 pts.) three from Feffer, two apiece from Katie Bauer '14 and Jenna Crothers '14 and one from Stephanie Welch '13.

King's led the Knights in shots 37-22 and ground balls 18-13, while Arcadia took care of 17 draw controls, a game high.

Amalie Kreitman '12 took the loss in net, making one stop with 7 goals against in the final 18 minutes.  De Thompson '13 got the start and finished 42 minutes of action with 7 goals against on 7 stops.

King's improves to 6-4 overall (1-0 Freedom).

Arcadia moves on to face FDU-Florham at home on April 10 in a critical Freedom Conference match.
