Dean Search opened the scoring in the 12th minute, and the Arcadia University men's soccer team never looked back as the Knights posted an impressive 3-0 victory over Western Connecticut State University on Friday night as part of the 29th Annual Drew University Fall Fest. Arcadia will look to open the season with back-to-back wins for the second year in a row when it plays Drew on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Search got the Knights going early with an unassisted goal just 11:10 into the contest. Arcadia extended its lead to 2-0 just over 10 minutes into the second half as junior forward
Nick Morris converted on a penalty kick. Sophomore midfielder
Alex Wells provided an insurance goal in the 63rd minute when he found the back of the net off a cross from sophomore forward
John Pacana.
Arcadia controlled the game in all statistical categories as the Knights out-shot the Colonials 14-3 and owned a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. Junior
Ryan Lantzy and freshman
Seth Shoap split time in net for Arcadia. Neither goalkeeper was tested often as Lantzy made one save in nearly 79 minutes of action before giving way to Shoap, who also made one save.
In Friday's other tournament game, Drew defeated The College of New Jersey by the final score of 2-1. The Knights last faced the Rangers on September 5, 2009 in a scoreless draw.
