Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's soccer team picked up its first MAC Commonwealth victory of the season with a 2-0 win over visiting Albright College Tuesday night at Easton Field. The Knights improved the 5-6-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play, while the Lions fell to 4-7-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play.
Junior back
Joseph Bertucci (Great Valley, N.J.) opened the scoring with his third goal of the year in the 21st-minute when he one-timed a cross from junior back
Kyle Veltre (Pequannock, N.J.) from the far right side of the box back across the net and into the right side to give Arcadia a 1-0 lead. Bertucci then set up the Knights second goal of the game when he crossed the ball from the left side of the box to senior midfielder
Joe Bagnall (York, Pa.) who chipped it in for his second goal of the season in the 74th-minute.
The second goal provided a much-needed cushion for Arcadia as Albright controlled the play for most of the second half, outshooting the Knights 13-5 in the frame. The Lions finished the game with a 22-11 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior keeper
Ryan Lantzy (Phoenixville, Pa.) had a strong performance in goal, stopping seven shots to record his fourth shutout of the year and even his record at 5-5-1. Sophomore keeper Austin Aldinger (Elizabethtown, Pa.) had two saves while taking the loss for Albright, dropping his record to 1-4-0.
The Knights will return to action Saturday when they host a MAC Commonwealth match against Stevenson University at 2:30 p.m. at Easton Field.
