Men's Lacrosse Drops Road Match at Immaculata

Box Score Immaculata, PA (February 23, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (0-2) dropped their first road contest of the season this afternoon, 10-8 at the Immaculata University Mighty Macs (1-1). The Knights held a 7-4 lead midway through the third quarter, but the Mighty Macs outscored them 6-1 the rest of the way. Chris Jacovino and John Phillips each scored a pair of goals for Arcadia.

Immaculata started the scoring in the match at the 6:19 mark, but Arcadia then scored five straight goals. Austin Morris scored off an assist from Ryan Griffo to tie the game at 1-1 with 4:47 to play in the first quarter. Then just 47-seconds, the Knights took their first lead in program history as Phillips scored from Matthew Fox for a 2-1 lead. At 2:44 Arcadia extended their advantage as Griffo scored unassisted. Chris Baines ended the first quarter scoring at the 1:27 mark as he scored unassisted giving the Knights a 4-1 lead after one.

Arcadia then started the second quarter scoring at 11:07 as Simpson scored unassisted. The Mighty Macs scored a 4:07 to make the score 5-2, but Phillips answered from Jacovino at 3:29. The match went into the break with Arcadia leading 6-2.

Immaculata quickly scored a pair of goals to start the third and make the score 6-4. Jacovnio stemmed the tide with a tally at 7:47, but the Mighty Macs answered with a goal at 2:24 and the match entered the fourth quarter with Arcadia leading 7-5.

The teams traded goals in the first two minutes of the fourth as Immaculata scored and then Jacovino scored from Casey Joffe for an 8-6 Knight lead with 13:46 to play. The Mighty Macs then scored four straight goals to end the game, getting the game tying goal at the 10:14 mark and the game winning tally at 4:43. They added an insurance goal at 2:39.

Cory Sonderschafer recorded 16 saves for the Knights. Jacovino recorded the first three-point match in program history with his two goals and an assist. Griffo also had a two-point day with a goal and an assist.

Arcadia will return to action next Saturday as they travel to face Albright for a 1pm face-off in Reading.
