Box Score Glenside, PA (February 6, 2013) - Dominque Hassinger's lay-up with 32.2 seconds to play gave the Arcadia University Knights (10-12, 3-12 MCOM) the lead for good in a 66-64 victory over the Alvernia University Crusaders (8-14, 5-10 MCOM). The Knights used a 17-4 run to take their first lead midway through the second half and then held off Alvernia down the stretch.
Valerie DiMuro recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Alvernia started the game on an 8-2 run to open up a six point advantage. Arcadia then got back to within one thanks to a 7-2 spurt, making the score 10-9 at the 15:54 mark. The Crusaders then scored nine straight to open up a 19-9 lead with 12:08 to play in the first half. The Knights got the deficit down to six at 25-19, but five straight Alvernia points gave them an 11-point lead, 30-19 at the 6:18 mark. Arcadia got the deficit down to five at 30-25, but 11 straight by Alvernia gave them their largest lead at 41-25 with less than two minutes to play. The Knights scored eight of the final 10 points of the half and went into the break, trailing 43-33.
Victoria Mazzeo scored 10 points to lead Arcadia. Chelsea Ebersole scored a game-high 12 to lead Alvernia. The Crusaders shot 53% from the field, while the Knights shot 38%. Alvernia won the board battle 22-17 and each team committed eight turnovers in the first half.
Alvernia scored the first basket of the second half, but Arcadia then used a 17-4 run to eliminate the deficit and take their first lead, 50-47 with 12:53 to play. The score pin balled back and forth with each team taking the lead and there were also three ties in the final 10 minutes.

Victoria Mazzeo hit a lay-up with 1:10 to play giving Arcadia a 63-61 lead. Ebersole then hit a three for the Crusaders to put them back up 64-63 with 55-seconds on the clock.
Dominique Hassinger then drove to the basket and put the Knights back up 65-64 with 32.2 left.
Following an Alvernia timeout, the Crusaders turned the ball over with 8.6 to play. Sam Caligiuri then went to the line with five-seconds on the clock, made 1-2 and a last second shot by Alvernia fell short for a 66-64 Arcadia win.
DiMuro was 8-10 from the field with two assists, two steals and a block. Hassinger added 15 points and six assists, while Mazzeo scored 15 points for the Knights. Ebersole ended the game with 21 points for Alvernia. Arcadia shot 46% from the field and Alvernia shot 41%. The Crusaders held a 38-34 lead on the board and committed 14 turnovers to the Knights' 13.
Arcadia will play their home regular season finale on Saturday afternoon as they host Lycoming College for a 1pm tip-off.
