Softball's Comeback Effort Falls Short in Game One at Albright

Box Score Reading, PA (April 2, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (5-10, 2-4 MCOM) had their seventh inning comeback attempt fall short in a 4-3 loss to Albright College (4-15, 1-6) in game on their doubleheader. The Knights went into the seventh trailing 4-0, but scored three times in the seventh. A double play ended the game with the tying run on base.

Albright scored one run in the first, two in the third and one in the sixth for a 4-0 lead. Arcadia started the seventh with four straight hits. Marissa Perez scored on an error to make it 4-1, then Alicia McMahon hit an RBI single to make the score 4-2. With runners on first and third and one out, Alexandra Schafer hit a ground ball to first. The first baseman stepped on first for the second out and then through to second to get the third and final out of the game. On the play, Ashley John scored to make the final 4-3.

Schafer and Perez each had two hits for the Knights. Jessica Wood took the loss, pitching six innings and allowing four runs on nine hits, while striking out seven.

Arcadia will play game two against Albright later today.
