Men's Lacrosse Drops One Goal Match in Regular Season Finale to Misericordia

Box Score Glenside, PA (April 27, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (5-10, 1-5 MFRE) dropped a tough 6-5 match to the Misericordia University Cougars (9-6, 4-2) this afternoon in the season finale. Arcadia trailed 6-3 late, but then scored twice to cut it to 6-5. The Knights had the ball in the final minute, but could not come up with the equalizer. Ryan Griffo had two goals and two assists to lead Arcadia.

Arcadia was held scoreless in the first half as Misericordia scored a goal in the first quarter and two in the second quarter for a 3-0 halftime lead. The Knights scored the only goal of the third quarter as Austin Morris scored from Griffo at 2:33 and the match went into the fourth with the Cougars leading 3-1.

To star the fourth, Chris Jacovino scored at 14:17 to cut the deficit to one goals at 3-2. Misericordia scored at 12:46 to take a two goal lead back at 4-2. Morris scored from Griffo for the second time at 7:26 to make it 4-3, but the Cougars got the goal back at 6:46 to make it 5-3. Misericordia scored a man-up goal to make it 6-3, but at 4:34 Griffo scored from Morris to cut the deficit to two at 6-4. Griffo then scored unassisted at 1:37 to get the Knights to within one at 6-5. Arcadia had a chance in the final minute to tie the game, but could not convert and fell 6-5.

Morris had two goals and an assist for the Knights. Michael Tappen played in goal for Arcadia and made nine saves.
