Dallas, PA (April 27, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights will head to the MAC Freedom Tournament for the first time since the 2008-09 season after defeating the Misericordia University Cougars this afternoon, 8-1. The Knights had to win today to earn the bid and did so in convincing fashion.
Arcadia swept doubles play with wins in all three matches. Vince Voulo and
Alex Colton won 8-5 in first doubles.
Pedro Leal and
Marc Ruggia followed that up with an 8-1 win at second doubles. In third doubles action,
Darren Stochmal and
Simon Mohr won 8-3.
In singles play, the Knights won five of the six matches. Voulo did not lose a game in his 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles. In second singles, Leal won easily 6-0, 6-1.
Eric Elie took care of his fourth singles match, 6-1, 6-4. Ruggia won at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Herminio Quinones won at sixth singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Arcadia will head to face top-seeded Wilkes on Tuesday afternoon in the MAC Freedom semifinals.
