Men's Tennis Heads to Wilkes Tomorrow for MAC Freedom Semifinals

Glenside, PA (April 29, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (7-7) are heading to the Wilkes University Colonels  (13-3) tomorrow for the MAC Freedom Men's Tennis semifinals. This is first time since 2008-09 that the Knights have reached the postseason. Arcadia enters the tournament as the fourth seed, while Wilkes is the top seed. The winner of tomorrow's match will head to the MAC Freedom Championship Match on Saturday and will take on either King's or FDU-Florham.

The Knights earned a spot in the tournament after winning both of their matches on the road last week, defeating Stevenson, 5-4 and Misericordia 8-1. Against Stevenson, Pedro Leal won the deciding match at second singles. He then won his doubles match along with Marc Ruggia and his singles match against Misericordia.

"I'm very proud of my team and the way they competed this week to get that final playoff spot," said head coach Lak Sphabimixay. "We knew that we had to win both matches last week to get our season going. Heading to Wilkes for the semifinals will be a great challenge for our team and I know we are up for it."
