Box Score Wilkes Barre, PA (April 6, 2013) - The Arcadia University Knights (4-5, 0-1 MFRE) dropped their conference opener this afternoon at the King's College Monarchs (7-1, 1-0 MFRE), 9-4. The score was tied after the first quarter, but Arcadia scored just once in the in the final 45-minutes.
Chris Jacovino scored twice the the Knights.
Arcadia jumped out to a 2-0 lead as
Chris Baines scored from
Ryan Griffo at 12:33 and
Richard Derival scored unassisted at 11:39. King's tied the game with two unanswered goals. Jacovino scored his first at the :53-second mark for a 3-2 lead, but the Monarchs scored just 34 seconds later and the game was 3-3 after one quarter.
King's scored the only goal of the second quarter and the first two of the third quarter for a 6-4 lead. The Knights got to within 6-4 as Jacovino scored from
Casey Joffe, but King's scored all three goals in the fourth and won 9-4.
King's outshot Arcadia 50-16 and
Cory Sonderschafer made 17 saves for the Knights. The Monarchs won 11 of the 17 face-offs and neither team scored a man-up goal.
Arcadia will return home on Wednesday night as they host FDU-Florham for a 7pm face-off on Easton Field.
