Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team outscored visiting Misericordia University 11-4 in the second half on its way to a 16-8 victory Thursday afternoon in a Freedom Conference match at Easton Field.
The Knights improved to 14-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play with the win, and clinched their second straight Freedom Conference tournament berth with their seventh consecutive victory. The Cougars fell to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play with the loss.
Sophomore
Adeline Bellesheim (Sparta, N.J.) scored a career-high six goals to lead Arcadia to the win, five of which came in the second half. Senior
Jenna Crothers (Patchogue, N.Y.) scored two goals while handing out five assists, raising her school-record total to 61 for the season. She now has a career-record 97 assists, putting her just three away from becoming the first Knight to reach 100 career assists.
Sophomore
Dawn Faranetta (Randolph, N.J.) scored two goals with two assists, while freshman
Erin Misner (Westhampton, N.J.) scored two goals to go with five draw controls. Senior
Sara Volk-Perez (Mays Landing, N.J.) added one goal with one assist and three ground balls.
Sophomore
Jordyn Dunacusky (Conshohocken, Pa.) recorded eight saves as she improved to 14-0 in net for Arcadia this season, further extending her school record for wins in a season.
Freshman Liz Mulvey (Green Brook, N.J.) scored three goals to lead Misericordia, while junior Erin Baker (Sicklerville, N.J.) added one goal with two assists. freshman Katie McLoughlin (Windsor, Conn.) fell to 5-7 in goal after recording 16 saves.
The two teams traded goals the entire first half, with Misner finding the back of the net with just 35 seconds left in the opening frame to give the Knights a 5-4 lead at the break. It was her second of the period.
Arcadia came out on fire to start the second half, opening the frame with a six-goal run to open an 11-4 advantage with 13:10 to go in the game. Bellesheim accounted for three of those goals, and scored twice in a span of 54 seconds to cap the surge. She scored consecutive goals again just a few minutes later to put Arcadia ahead 14-6 with 4:29 on the clock.
The Knights outshot the Cougars 42-18 in the game, held a 22-16 advantage in ground balls and a 14-12 edge in draw controls.
Arcadia will return to action Tuesday when it travels to King's (Pa.) College for a 4 p.m. Freedom Conference contest.
