GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's tennis team recorded an 8-1 Freedom Conference victory over visiting Stevenson University Wednesday afternoon at Weiss Courts. The Knights improved to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play with the win, while the Mustangs fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Junior
Kaila Gaughan (Millville, N.J.) was a double winner at No. 1, teaming with freshman
Allyson Naiken (Ringoes, N.J.) for an 8-6 doubles victory before posting a 6-3, 6-2 singles victory. Justin Sawyer (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and
Viola Sawyer (Glen Cove, N.Y.) teamed for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles and then went on to win their respective singles matches in three sets.
Senior
Danielle Riggins (Dorchester, N.J.) also won both of her matches, pairing with sophomore
Alexandria Broome (South Euclid, Ohio) for an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles and then rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
Arcadia will be back in action Friday when they travel to Bryn Athyn College for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
