Women’s volleyball goes 2-1 at Penn State-Abington Quad-Meet

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ABINGTON, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's volleyball team defeated Trinity University (D.C.) and host Penn State-Abington by respective scores of 3-0 and 3-1 after falling to Wesley College 3-0 at a quad-meet hosted by the Nittany Lions. The Knights are now 4-1 for the season.
 
Arcadia defeated Trinity in straight sets, 25-15, 25-12 and 25-13. Freshman middle hitter Colleen Stengel hit. 615 with nine kills and just one error on 13 attempts, while sophomore outside hitter Nicolette Bonagura hit .313 with eight kills and three errors on 16 swings to go with a match-high six service aces.
 
The Tigers managed just eight kills in the match, and hit a -.273.
 
The Knights dropped the first set to Penn State-Abington 25-21 before closing out the match with wins of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-18. Sophomore outside hitter Makenna Micklus hit .310 in the match with 11 kills and two errors on 29 attempts, while senior outside hitter Natalie Cadmus posted a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs. Senior setter Taylor Hoover handed out 24 assists and notched 20 digs, while freshman libero Sami Evans dug out 25 balls.
 
Sophomore outside Rachel Bohl had 13 kills and 17 digs to lead the Nittany Lions, while sophomore libero Victoria Lohman tallied a match-high 27 digs.
 
The Knights fell to Wesley 25-18, 25-17 and 26-24 in their opening match of the day. Micklus had a match-high eight kills for Arcadia, while Hoover handed out 20 assists.
 
The Wolverines were led by sophomore outside hitter Arnelle Akakpo and freshman right side hitter Codi Ziolkowski, who each put down a match-high eight kills. Freshman middle hitter Tania Rounds hit .778 after registering seven kills on nine swings with no errors.
 
The Knights will return to action Wednesday when they host their Commonwealth Conference opener against Hood College at 7 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium.
