Complete ResultsFREDERICK, Md. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team posted school-record times in four events as it opened the 2015-16 season with a 145-114 dual meet victory at Hood College Saturday. It was just the Knights second ever win over the Blazers, the first being a 102-84 final January 21, 2004.
Freshmen
Samantha Carpenter and
Taylor Byers posted a pair of one-two finishes and surpass the previous school records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Carpenter won both races with respective times of 1:07.93 and 2:32.34, while Byers was the runner-up on both occasions with times of 1:12.49 and 2:35.89. Junior
Emma Tomasetti took third in both events with respective times of 1:20.93 and 3:02.17.
Freshman
Alyssa D'Esposito won the 1,000 freestyle with a school-record time of 11:27.48, and went on to win the 500 freestyle after touching the wall first in 5:41.75.
Junior
Megan Obarowski placed second in the 200 butterfly with a program record time of 2:24.91 and was also runner-up in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.70 in her Arcadia debut. Byers was runner-up in the 200 IM with a time of 2:22.09, while Obarowski was third with a time of 2:26.52.
Freshman
Kate Wojnar was the runner-up in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:08.99, edging out junior
Lillie Curtis' third-place time of 2:10.00. Curtis was the runner-up in the 500 freestyle after clocking in at 26.87 seconds, while Wojnar was third fastest in the 100 free with a time of 59.67 seconds
Sophomore
Rose Georgias took third in the 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke with respective times of 1:05.70 and 2:28.11. Freshman
Rylee Cella placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.82.
Georgias, Carpenter, Obarowski and Byers won the 200 medley relay to open the day with a time of 1:56.22, and the 200 freestyle relay team of Curtis, Wojnar, Carpenter and sophomore
Lindsay Fortier registered a winning time of 1:48.39 to close the meet.
Arcadia will have over a week off until its next meet, which will see the Knights host Lebanon Valley College October 29 at 7 p.m. at Lenox Pool.
