GLENSIDE, Pa. – A record number of golfers participated in the third annual Arcadia University Athletic Department golf outing fundraiser on a sunny summer afternoon at Old York Road Country Club on Monday, June 27. The annual golf outing raises funds to benefit Arcadia's nearly 350 student-athletes.

A total of 120 golfers signed up to help support Knights' successful and growing program, which will now sponsor 19 varsity programs with the addition of men's volleyball this coming academic year. There were 71 golfers at the inaugural golf outing in 2014 and 87 last year.

"On behalf of the Arcadia Athletic Department, I'd like to thank all the donors, sponsors and contributors for their support," said Athletics Business Manager Michael Hebenstreit, who oversaw the planning and execution of the event for the first time. "Additionally, I would like to thank the record number of golfers that participated in the outing, as well as our coaches, staff, student-athletes, and Alumni Office volunteers, and the staff at Old York Road Country Club who made this a memorable event."

The 2016 Arcadia Athletics Golf Outing featured a barbeque lunch, 18 holes at the private, member-only Old York Road Country Club, cocktail hour, and dinner. The golf portion of the day featured 15 different contests that tested the various skills of the participating golfers, while the dinner portion of the day included remarks Arcadia Board of Trustees Chair Christopher R. van de Velde and Director of Athletics Brian Granata.

The team of Anthony Champi, Eric Concole, Jason Goldstein and Mike Nyszczot won the scramble-format tournament, winning the tie-breaker after carding a nine-under par round of 62 that was matched by the second-place team of Ed Collins, Mike Duffy, and Chris and Jim Merce. Hebenstreit, Bryan Helyer, Brian Lillis and Jay Zehring, took home the third-place trophy after totaling 63.
