GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's tennis team opened MAC Commonwealth play with a 9-0 win over Hood Saturday afternoon on Weiss Courts. The Knights improved to 2-8 on the season in 1-0 in conference play, while the Blazers fell to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
DOUBLES PLAY: Seniors
Allyson Naiken and
Janelle Bradley took the first flight from Michelle Shedd and Meaghan Donahue 9-7. Another pair of seniors,
Amanda Shulski and
Amy MacNeill, downed Bianca Hoch and Kara Conway 8-1 at No. 2. The freshman Maeghan Myer and
Sarah Aschemeier defeated Autumn Manche and Eboni Staples 8-1 at No. 3.
SINGLES PLAY: Naiken downed Shedd 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, with Shulski downing Donahue 6-0, 6-1 in the second flight. Sophomore
Zoe Foglia took down Hoch 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3, as senior
Amy MacNeill downed Conway 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth flight. Freshmen
Casey Boldt defeated Manche 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5, with classmate
Sarah Rosario taking down Staples 6-1, 6-3 in the sixth flight.
