st minute to lift the Arcadia University men's soccer team to a 2-1 win Wednesday night at Penn State Berks.
FOR THE RECORD: The win lifted the Knights to 5-1-1 on the year. The Nittany Lions dropped to 2-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Following a scoreless opening 45 minutes, freshman
Duncan O'Connor opened the scoring less than two minutes into the second half. The frosh put a cross from McKim into an open net in the 47
th minute. From the ensuing kickoff, the Knights continued to press the Nittany Lion defense as Hammer fired a shot less than a minute later and junior
Manny Camacho put a shot on target in the 50
th minute.
The Scarlet and Grey nearly got on the board again midway through the frame as senior
Ryan Keeter and Hammer tested Jose Aparicio three minutes apart. The hosts got on the board on an 88
th minute penalty kick to send the game to overtime.
Arcadia put two shots on target in the first overtime period, McKim headed a shot on frame in the 95
th minute that was denied before O'Connor attempted a shot with 34 seconds to go but was also denied. The second overtime lasted less than a minute as Hammer took a corner kick at the 100:29 mark, before crossing a ball into McKim for the game-winner at 100:49.
IN GOAL: Reigning MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week, senior
Chris Watson, moved to 5-1-1 as he made six saves. Jose Aparicio made four saves in a relief loss for Penn State Berks.
