CHESTER, Pa. -- Widener knocked off the Arcadia women's volleyball team, 3-1, on Thursday evening in the Knights' final MAC Commonwealth contest of the season.

Even with the loss, the Knights locked up the MAC Commonwealth's No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Arcadia is now 21-9 on the season and 6-2 in league play. Widener moved to 16-16 on the season and 4-4 in league play.

The Pride won the first two sets 26-24, 29-27, needing extra points to fend off the Knights, before the Scarlet & Grey seemed to right the ship with a 25-9 win in the third set. However, Widener picked up the win with a 25-20 win in the fourth set.

Arcadia fell behind 8-3 in the first set, and after battling to back to a two-point deficit at 12-10, saw Widener go up six, 16-10, with a 4-0 run. Trailing 18-12, the Knights surged ahead 20-19, and eventually took a 24-20 lead. The Pride benefited from three straight attack errors by AU and got a kill from Nicole Dorman for the clinching point.

Widener rallied once again in the second set, as Arcadia held leads of 10-4 and 15-7 but couldn't hang on. An 8-1 run by the Pride midway through the set turned a 16-12 lead for AU into a 20-17 deficit.

A dominating 25-9 win for the Knights in the third set, in which Arcadia made just one attack error, was followed by a 25-20 loss in the fourth set. As they did in each of their first two wins, the Pride put together a run late in the set to steal the win. The Knights led 17-16 before a 7-2 run gave Widener a 23-19 lead on an AU attack error. The Pride sealed the win on an a service error followed by an attack error.

Lauren Enfield and
Lizzie Joseph had 14 kills apiece to pace the Knights' offense.
Shannon Ryan added 12 kills, and
Maddie Sehrt chipped in nine. Enfield also had 13 digs and four service aces.
Emily Eng led the defense with 21 digs, and
Julia Paliwodzinski had 46 assists.

Arcadia will return to action on Saturday at Eastern beginning at 10 a.m.
