HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Arcadia women's volleyball team's program-record eight game win streak was snapped on Saturday with losses to Marymount and No. 7 Juniata. The Knights fall to 10-3 on the season.
Marymount 3 Arcadia 0 (25-21, 28-26, 25-20)
Lauren Enfield had 12 kills and a .364 hitting percentage to Pace the Knights, and
Emily Eng racked up 15 digs, while
Julia Paliwodzinski totaled 31 assists in the Knights first match of the day.
After falling in set one, the Knights struggled to keep pace with Marymount. Trailing 17-10 midway through the second set, Arcadia scored seven consecutive points which was capped off with a kill by
Maddie Sehrt, to cut the deficit to one. The Knights also scored three straight points late in the set, to take a 23-22 lead. However, Marymount scored the final three points, taking the hard fought second set.
Trailing 23-17 in set three, the Knights tried to rally to avoid the sweep, scoring five straight points, capped off by an Eng service ace, making the score 23-20. The Knights rally fell short, ultimately falling to the Saints.
#7 Juniata 3 Arcadia 0 (28-26, 25-19, 25-22)
In the Knight's second match of the day, Enfield totaled 11 kills, while Eng had 20 digs and Paliwodzinski had 13, to lead the Knights.
The Knights started out the match strong, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in set one. Arcadia struggled to maintain its pace, ultimately dropping the first set.
Arcadia tried to force a fourth set in a back-and-forth set three. Trailing 22-17, the Knights scored four straight points, pulling to within one of Juniata.
Shannon Ryan tallied the final kill of the run, making the match a one-point contest. Arcadia was unable to complete the comeback, falling to Juniata in a sweep.
Arcadia is back in action on Tuesday when the Knights travel to Stevenson. The match is schedule for a 7 p.m. start.
