Arcadia Achieves Highest Ranking Ever in Director's Cup Standings

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) have released the final 2018-19 Learfield IMG Director's Cup standings and Arcadia University achieved its highest ranking ever in the standings.

With 150.0 total points, the Knights placed 125th in the rankings, a 76-place improvement over 2017-18's 201st-place finish. This marks the eighth time the Knights have appeared in the rankings which began in 1995-96, and the 125th-place finish is the highest ever, eclipsing the 180th-place finish in 2002-03. In all, 338 NCAA Division III schools scored at least five points to make the list.

"The growth and development of Arcadia Athletics in recent years has been remarkable to be part of," Director of Athletics Brian Granata said. "This year's results are a testament to all the hard work that our coaches, staff, and student-athletes have put in. We pride ourselves on the wide range of success of all our sports. Our work is not done. We will continue to strive for greatness as we seek to raise the profile of Arcadia Athletics."

The Knights had four teams make the NCAA Tournament in their respective sports. Women's soccer appeared in the postseason for the third straight year and sixth time overall. The men's basketball team made its first-ever NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round, while the men's volleyball team also made its first appearance in the NCAA Championships. Arcadia rounded out the spring with its softball team making the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the regional finals.

The 150.0 points for Arcadia marks the third-highest of any MAC Commonwealth institution, and fourth-most for any school in the MAC.

Directors' Cup points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports in NCAA postseason competition, measured by nine women's sports and nine men's sports.

Williams College posted 1117.0 points to edge Johns Hopkins (1083.75) for its 22nd Learfield Director's Cup in the last 24 years.  Washington University of St. Louis (1032.75), Middlebury (941.75) and Emory (921.50) rounded out the Top 5.
